Munnar
This enchanting hill station in Western Ghats is easily accessible from
Trivandrum. It is at an altitude of 1100 ft. above sea level. Cool and devastatingly
beautiful with lush green woods, gurgling streams and the abundance of colourful
of butterflies makes Ponmudi different from other hill stations. 
Munnar is a nature lover's paradise. Set in the lofty greenery and serenity of Kannan Devan hills at an altitude of average 1700 ft and 136 kms from Cochin, it is home to some of the oldest and finest tea plantations in India.
Munnar offers a fascinating view of low-lying clouds and misty valleys. The hill resort has a cool pleasing climate. Gracious colonial style churches with ancient chandeliers and rosewood pews, luxurious estate clubs are the features of Munnar. Anaimudi, South India's highest peak and the Pallivasal hydroelectric project are easily accessible from Munnar. The Eravikulam national-park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Thar, is on a stretch of grassland near Munnar. Gaur, Langur, Lion tailed Macaque and Elephants can also seen here.
The Kundala tea plantation surrounding a lovely lake offers a breathtaking view of the region. You can visit the tea estate and can watch processing of tea and buy high quality tea from the plantation.
